A leading Scottish accounting body’s new president is a former Deloitte UK boss who plans to emphasize the importance of “social mobility” to the profession.
The Institute of Chartered Accountants of Scotland has appointed David Cruickshank as its president, the professional group said Friday. Cruickshank spent 40 years at Deloitte, where he was UK and then global chair.
ICAS is the professional organization for about 24,000 chartered accountants. Improving social mobility in accounting—by widening access to the industry’s credential to young people from different backgrounds—is central to Cruickshank’s agenda at the group, he said in a statement.
