SAG-AFTRA Health Plan Sued Over Data Leaked in Phishing Attack

The Screen Actors Guild-American Federation of Television and Radio Artists labor union’s health plan was hit with multiple proposed class actions claiming it failed to protect the sensitive information of its members, leading to a data breach that exposed the data of thousands.

SAG-AFTRA Health Plan, which provides health-care benefits to members of the union, didn’t encrypt or redact its members’ sensitive information, enabling a phishing attack in September, according to a pair of complaints filed Tuesday in the US District Court for the Central District of California.
