Russia’s mail.Ru Used Facebook User Data for Commercial Purposes

Mail.ru’s apps have been allowed to collect data on Facebook Inc. users, the Russian internet firm said.

Mail.ru, the Russian internet company owned by Kremlin-friendly billionaire Alisher Usmanov, told Bloomberg it used Facebook users’ data for commercial purposes to promote its products.

A spokesman for Mail.ru said the company hasn’t been misusing Facebook users’ data and is ready to go through a technological audit on the matter, if required.
