Retirees Sue CalPERS Contractors Over Data Theft in MOVEit Hack

Pension Benefit Information LLC and The Berwyn Group Inc. failed to protect the personal information of nearly 1.2 million California retirees in connection with a May cyberattack upon Progress Software Inc.'s widely used MOVEit file transfer utility.

The MOVEit attack, allegedly carried out by a criminal hacking group known as Clop, has resulted in the theft of data from dozens of organizations and government agencies in the US and Europe. Notable victims include oil giant Shell PLC and British Airways, along with banks, manufacturing firms, and universities.
