Renaissance Learning Sued Over Info Collection From K-12 Kids

Education-technology company Renaissance Learning Inc. collected, disclosed, and profited from the personal information of K-12 students in violation of state and federal privacy laws, a proposed federal class action said.

Lead plaintiff Nicole Reisberg, a mother of two school-age children, alleged that Renaissance collected “vast troves” of student data through its products and data-sharing agreements, and used and disclosed the information to third parties without parents’ knowledge or consent.
