Rehab Center Loses Computer Fraud Claim in Ex-Employee Lawsuit

An Illinois federal magistrate judge dismissed a Computer Fraud and Abuse Act claim from a rehab center’s lawsuit against two former employees and a competitor, writing that the company’s allegations are inadequate to state a claim under the law.

Plaintiff Select Rehabilitation LLC’s computer fraud claim is axed because it didn’t adequately allege a “loss,” Magistrate Judge Reona J. Daly wrote in an order filed Tuesday in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Illinois.

Attorneys representing Select didn’t immediately respond to a request for comment.
