Regal Cinemas Tracked Users Online, Sent Data to Meta, Suit Says

Regal Cinemas Inc. deployed tracking technology to monitor customers’ activity on its website, then shared personal details about them with Meta Platforms Inc. without their consent, a proposed class action said.

Regal leveraged Meta’s tracking pixel, which collects information about users online, to gather data about which videos they watched, where, and when, and disclosed it to the social media giant in violation of the federal Video Privacy Protection Act, according to a complaint filed Thursday in the US District Court for the Southern District of New York.
