The Department of Health and Human Services said it plans to get a Biden-era proposed revamp of cybersecurity rules for the health-care supply chain across the finish line by May 2026, according to a regulatory agenda posted on a federal website Friday.
The HHS Office for Civil Rights proposal, first announced in December, seeks to update the Security Rule under the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA) to shore up the cyber posture of a prime target of hacks: the health-care sector.
