A Utah federal court rejected an adult entertainment industry group’s initial challenge to a new state law requiring visitors of sites like Pornhub to prove their age before watching online content.
The Free Speech Coalition’s lawsuit improperly targeted two state officials in its bid to block enforcement of the age checks law, according to a ruling Tuesday from the US District Court for the District of Utah. The ruling dismissed the group’s claims but left room for trying again with new arguments.
The coalition plans to appeal the decision, it said in a statement.
