Porn Group Drops Opposition to California Age-Verification Bill

A California measure that would force porn sites to take steps to block minors faces better prospects for passage after the porn industry trade group dropped its opposition after securing changes.

California is one of several states considering measures to require age verification to prevent minors from accessing sexually explicit content.

Assemblymember Juan Alanis (R) has mustered broad bipartisan support for his measure (AB 3080) as he attempts to get it to the governor’s desk by the end of August. The California Assembly passed the legislation by a 65-0 vote in May.
