Photo App Settles With FTC Over Data Used for Face Recognition (1)

The maker of a now-defunct photo and video storage app has settled Federal Trade Commission allegations that it deceived consumers about its use of facial recognition technology and its retention of content from deactivated accounts.

Everalbum Inc. must delete models and algorithms it developed using photos and videos uploaded by its users and obtain express consent before applying facial recognition to consumers as part of the settlement.
