Philadelphia Inquirer Must Face Video Privacy, Wiretapping Suit

The Philadelphia Inquirer failed in its bid to dismiss a proposed class action alleging it violated federal privacy and Pennsylvania wiretapping laws.

The 194-year-old newspaper now must defend against allegations that it failed to obtain consent before disclosing user data to Meta Platforms Inc that detailed videos plaintiffs watched on their website, US District Court Judge John Milton Younge decided for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania on Monday. Plaintiffs argue the Inquirer associated their watch history with their Facebook profiles.
