Petco Hit With Proposed Class Action After Credit Cards Exposed

Petco Animal Supplies Inc. failed to properly monitor the website, computer network, and systems that hosted consumers’ personal information before one of its business units suffered a data breach, the plaintiff in a proposed class action argues.

The company and its business unit PupBox violated Washington’s consumer protection law and acted negligently by failing to safeguard the data, plaintiff April Fesler alleged in a lawsuit filed Friday in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of California.
