Peet’s Coffee Sued Over ‘Deceptive’ Cookie Consent Web Banner

Peet’s Coffee Inc. falsely assured consumers they could reject the use of website tracking tools and the disclosure of their personal data to Google LLC, Meta Platforms Inc., TikTok Inc., and other third parties, a proposed federal class action said.

Lead plaintiff Sal Munoz alleged that Peet’s website displayed a consent banner allowing users to manage their preferences and decline various types of tracking cookies except those “strictly required” for the site to function.
