Parker Hannifin Corp. will have to face a lawsuit alleging that it failed to safeguard its employees’ data, leading to a breach that compromised the personally identifiable information of thousands of current and former employees.
Gary Rowe brought the proposed class action Monday in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Ohio, claiming that the manufacturing company failed to comply with industry-standard data security practices. The complaint alleges that Parker Hannifin refused to pay the ransom for the safe return and deletion of the data, leading hackers to publish the entire 419 GB dataset on the internet.
