Onix Group LLC would pay $1.25 million to settle allegations it failed to protect the personal information of nearly 310,000 people that was exposed in a March 2023 data breach, under a deal given initial approval in a federal court.
Class members would be able to receive up to $5,000 each to cover documented losses related to the breach, 12 months of identity-theft insurance and credit-monitoring services, or a pro rata cash payment from settlement funds remaining after deduction of other benefits, expenses and attorneys’ fees, according to the plaintiffs’ motion for preliminary approval of the settlement.
