Oil Industry Group API Updates Cybersecurity Standard for Pipes

American Petroleum Institute has published a new version of recommendations on cybersecurity practices for pipeline operators as the industry seeks to step up protection against hacks.

The new standard, which includes further guidance for isolation and protection of control systems and improved risk assessment guidelines, provides a ‘much more comprehensive framework’ for how companies can insulate their operations from attacks, says Suzanne Lemieux, API’s director of operations security and emergency response.
