A federal judge denied Israeli spyware company NSO Group’s request to dismiss a years-long case against the company for allegedly violating anti-hacking laws brought by WhatsApp.
The NSO Group claimed that litigating in California would restrict access to evidence because of export restrictions in Israel, where NSO Group is based. Instead, a U.S. District Court judge in Oakland, Calif. ruled on Nov. 15 that the restrictions would impose similar limits “regardless of whether the case is litigated in California or Israel.”
