Northwestern Medicine and one of its vendors were hit with a proposed class action accusing the duo of failing to guard sensitive patient data from a breach.

Northwestern Medicine acted negligently, and Swedish radiation therapy equipment company Elekta Inc. violated the Illinois Genetic Information Privacy Act by lacking adequate security measures, plaintiff Darryl Bowsky alleged in a lawsuit filed Wednesday in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Illinois.
