NIST Updates Industrial Control Systems Security Guide, Seeks Final Public Input

The National Institute of Standards and Technology Feb. 10 released an updated draft of a revised guide for securing industrial control systems (ICS) for final public review and comment.

“Industrial control systems encompass the hardware and software that control equipment and the information technologies that gather and process data,” NIST said in a Feb. 10 statement. They are used in industries such as the electric, water and wastewater, oil and natural gas, transportation, chemical, pharmaceutical, pulp and paper, food and beverage and manufacturing industries, according to the guide.
