Newsweek Faces Class Suit Over Video Data Sharing with Facebook

Newsweek Digital LLC shared its website visitors’ personal information with Facebook without their consent in violation of the Video Privacy Protection Act, a new proposed federal class action said.

Emma Mendoza alleged that Newsweek installed on its website the “Facebook pixel,” a piece of programming code that transmits the Facebook IDs and video-viewing histories of its website visitors to the social media giant.
