New York state ambulance drivers and other first responders will no longer be able to sell patient information for marketing purposes, under legislation that Gov. Andrew M. Cuomo signed into law.
The measure, S.4119/A.230, prohibits emergency service providers from continuing to sell or disclose private patient health information such as addresses, phone numbers, prescriptions, and medical history without consent. Cuomo (D) signed the bill Oct. 7.
