New Mexico Health Provider Unable to Skirt Data Breach Claims

Rehoboth McKinley Christian Health Care Services still must face claims stemming from a data breach that exposed sensitive patient information, after a New Mexico federal judge refused to dismiss the suit against the health care provider.

Alicia Charlie and her co-plaintiffs sued Rehoboth alleging that it failed to take adequate precautions to guard against the cyberattack, which affected 207,191 potential class members.

Because of the breach, Charlie says she and the potential class are at a heightened risk of identity theft and fraud, and have already experienced a substantial increase in suspicious scam phone calls.
