New Jersey released proposed rules Monday for how companies should comply with its new privacy law to prevent unauthorized use and sales of consumers’ personal data.
The proposed rules require companies that collect data during business transactions to notify consumers about the collection of their personal information and disclosure to third parties. Consumers can opt out of data collections or sales. Consent is required for the collection of sensitive data such as biometrics, race, and geolocation data. It also places restrictions on the data of kids aged 13-17 for advertising.
