New Hampshire Latest State to Enact Consumer Data Privacy Law

Companies doing business in New Hampshire will have to provide consumers with more control over their personal information under a law signed by Gov. Chris Sununu (R), his office announced Wednesday.

The requirements, which take effect Jan. 1, 2025, will apply to companies that handle the data of at least 35,000 state residents a year, or 10,000 if more than a quarter of their gross revenue comes from selling personal data. Consumers will have the right to know what data a company collects and opt out of certain uses, such as for targeted advertising.
