Certain commercial website operators have until Oct. 1 to create a way for Nevada consumers to opt out of having their personal information sold, under Nevada’s revised privacy law.
The law’s intent—to give consumers the right to ask a company not to sell their data—resembles that of California’s privacy law taking effect Jan. 1, attorneys said. But Nevada’s opt-out provision is narrower, defining “sale” as the exchange of covered information, such as names, email addresses, and Social Security numbers, to other entities for “monetary consideration.”
