Tech industry group NetChoice sued Maryland Monday to block the state’s kids online safety law, the latest in a line of disputes between the lobby and regulators.
The industry group asked the court to stop the state from enforcing the Maryland Age-Appropriate Design Code Act and declare it unlawful, in a complaint filed Monday in the US District Court for the District of Maryland. The law, enacted in October, restricts how companies use the data of users under 18 and requires them to analyze how their products affect children through data protection impact assessments.
