Google, Microsoft Tapped to Fill Gap in US Cyber Workforce (1)

Alphabet Inc.‘s Google, Microsoft Corp., and Fortinet were among companies that participated in a summit National Cyber Director Chris Inglis hosted with the aim of filling a critical shortage in the US cybersecurity workforce.

The White House said in an event announcement that there are about 700,000 open cybersecurity positions as the public and private sectors face rising risks of ransomware and other kinds of attacks from hackers.

Cyber jobs often pay well and don’t require a four-year college degree, but there aren’t enough qualified workers to fill in that gap.
