Mr. Cooper Customers Advance Class Action Over 2023 Data Breach

Mortgage-loan servicer Mr. Cooper Group Inc. must face some claims of a proposed class action alleging it negligently failed to protect the personal information of millions of customers that was exposed in a 2023 data breach.

The plaintiffs pleaded injury-in-fact sufficient to establish standing to sue in federal court, and adequately pleaded claims of negligence and breach of implied contract, Judge David C. Godbey of the US District Court for the Northern District of Texas said Tuesday.
