A group of Virginia landowners are owed double the compensation a federal court awarded for their property being used for the Mountain Valley Pipeline, the Fourth Circuit said Tuesday.
The initial jury verdict of about $523,000—before it was cut to about $261,000 by the trial court—"can be supported by credited testimony without mixing different land use valuations, as the district court assumed,” Judge Stephanie D. Thacker said on behalf of the US Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit.
