Mortgage Lender’s Inaction Allegedly Exposed Client Data to Hack

Lower LLC faces claims over a data breach of its servers that compromised thousands of Social Security numbers and other personal information, according to a proposed class action filed in the US District Court for the District of Maryland.

Edgar Wolff claims that the mortgage lending company was negligent in securing customer data, which allowed hackers to access names, email addresses, Social Security numbers, passport numbers, driver’s license number, and other personally identifiable information stored on its servers.

Lower didn’t notify customers for 11 months after hackers infiltrated the servers, Wolff alleged in his Thursday complaint.
