Montana Leans on Other Car Privacy Probes Into Ford, Stellantis

Montana is building on a growing list of state investigations into how automotive manufacturers safeguard drivers’ personal information with a new probe into Ford Motor Co. and Stellantis N.V., which owns Fiat and Chrysler.

Montana Attorney General Austin Knudsen asked the automakers Friday to hand over information about the products and platforms that collect driving data, personal information, and data from connected vehicles, as well as where they sold the data, including to data brokers and insurance companies.
