Money Exchanges Escape Privacy Lawsuit Over ICE Data Sharing

A federal judge threw out a proposed class action accusing Western Union Financial Services Inc. and other money transfer services of violating federal and California financial-privacy laws by sharing the plaintiffs’ financial data with law enforcement agencies.

The named plaintiffs, several California residents, had alleged that an Arizona law enforcement program collected and shared consumer financial records from money transfers greater than $500 from the border region with law enforcement, including US Immigration and Customs Enforcement.
