Mobile Game App Settles with California AG in Privacy Case (1)

The company behind a popular mobile app game will pay a $500,000 penalty and take remedies for children privacy violations under a settlement with California Attorney General Rob Bonta.

Tilting Point Media LLC allegedly shared children’s data without parental consent in their mobile app game “SpongeBob: Krusty Cook-Off.” This violated not just the California Consumer Privacy Act but also the federal Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act, Bonta said in a Wednesday statement along with Los Angeles City Attorney Hydee Feldstein Soto.
