Middle East Servers Targeted in Cyberattack Against Saipem (2)

The Italian oil-services company Saipem SpA is still assessing the scope and impact of a cyberattack that targeted its servers in the Middle East, according to the company’s head of digital and innovation.

“We’re keeping the servers down to understand what happened,” Mauro Piasere said by phone. Once that’s clear “we will be able to load the backup.”

A spokesman for the Milan-based company said Dec. 11 that about 400 servers were hit during a cyberattack made public Dec. 10. It will take a few days to restore the servers but no data is expected to be lost. The origins ...
