Meta’s $725 Million Cambridge Analytica Deal Gets First OK (1)

A federal judge in California preliminarily approved a record $725 million settlement between Meta Platforms Inc. and Facebook users claiming the company shared personal user data with British research firm Cambridge Analytica.

The deal for all US Facebook users between May 24, 2007, and December 22, 2022, is “fair, reasonable, and adequate,” wrote Judge Vince Chhabria of the US District Court for the Northern District of California in a Wednesday order.
