Meta Platforms Inc. must continue to defend against Nevada’s claims that users under 18 were harmed when the social media platform introduced end-to-end encryption, a state judge said.
Nevada District Judge Joanna S. Kishner rejected Meta’s motion to dismiss the claims, citing protections under the First Amendment and Section 230 of the Communications Decency Act. Kishner also shot down Meta’s argument that the state did not meet standards for personal jurisdiction, she said in a ruling from the bench.
