Medical Management Service Wins Bid to Dismiss Data Breach Suit

Health-care vendor Practicefirst won dismissal of a proposed class action stemming from a 2020 data breach that exposed the personal and health-care information of more than 1.2 million patients and employees.

Peter Tassmer and Karen Cannon brought the suit against Practicefirst Medical Management Solutions, which is contracted by 75 medical practices across the country, after they were notified that their data was copied by hackers as part of a ransomware attack that stole contact information, social security numbers, medical and insurance information, and other personal and health-care data.
