Medical Device Maker Faces California Privacy Suit After Breach

An insulin device maker allegedly failed to protect sensitive health data, leading to the exposure of more than 140,000 patients’ information in violation of California’s privacy law, according to a federal court complaint.

Tandem Diabetes Care Inc. announced in March that hackers accessed names, contact information, Social Security numbers, and clinical data regarding diabetes therapy, according to a complaint filed Thursday in the Southern District of California.
