Marketing Firm Koypo Hit with U.K. Fine for Unsolicited Emails

Koypo Laboratories Ltd must pay a £100,000 ($130,447) fine from the U.K’s data regulator for unsolicited email marketing.

The marketing firm sent more than 21 million messages over the course of a year without obtaining subscribers’ consent, the U.K. Information Commissioner’s Office said in its enforcement action.

Koypo didn’t immediately respond to a request for comment.

Such marketing is a violation of the U.K.'s Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations, which are based on the European Union’s privacy regime for emails, texts, and other electronic messages.
