Lytx Must Face Biometric Suit Over Trucker Monitoring System

Lytx Inc. must face a proposed class action alleging it collected and stored the biometric information of truck drivers for Maverick Transportation LLC in violation of the Illinois Biometric Information Privacy Act, a federal court ruled.

Plaintiff Joshua Lewis’s lawsuit could proceed because he wasn’t required to plead that data collected by Lytx, a provider of video and analytics services to the transportation industry, was used to identify individual drivers, Judge Nancy J. Rosenstengel of the US District Court for the Southern District of Illinois said Monday.
