Logistics Firm’s $352,800 Biometric Privacy Deal Gets Court Nod

Warehouse-services firm Customized Distribution Services Inc. would pay about $352,800 to settle a proposed class action alleging it collected the fingerprints of employees in violation of the Illinois Biometric Information Privacy Act, under a proposed settlement given initial approval in federal court.

The deal would provide for an estimated $500 in net relief for each of the approximately 392 class members after deduction of fees and expenses from the settlement fund, according to the plaintiff’s motion for preliminary approval filed in the US District Court for the Southern District of Illinois.
