Lawsuit Over X Breach of 200 Million Users’ Data Moves Forward

X Corp. will have to face a proposed class action claiming it negligently allowed cybercriminals to exploit a flaw in its platform to access the personal information of about 200 million users.

US Magistrate Judge Kandis A. Westmore on Wednesday allowed all plaintiffs’ claims against the social media platform, except one, to move forward, in an opinion filed in the US District Court for the Northern District of California. Westmore rejected X’s arguments that plaintiffs’ claims were mostly barred by liability-limitation clauses in its terms of service.
