Labcorp to Settle Patient Privacy Dispute Over Online Trackers

Laboratory Corp. of America will settle a proposed privacy class action that alleged the clinical testing company deployed tracking software on its website that shared patient information with Google and Meta Platforms.

The plaintiffs reached an agreement in principle Thursday with Labcorp, the parties told the US District Court for the Middle District of North Carolina, without providing details about the deal. Judge William L. Osteen Jr. in 2024 declined to dismiss the suit, saying the complaint should be construed to read that Labcorp allegedly disclosed the patients’ own sensitive data through the trackers.
