Kazakhstan Adopts New Privacy, Cybersecurity Fines

Companies operating in Kazakhstan may be fined for improperly disclosing biometric and other personal data of minors under a new law published Dec. 29 in the country’s official register.

The law, which was signed by Kazakhstan President Nursultan Nazarbayev Dec. 28, also sets fines for information technology infrastructure companies that fail to report cybersecurity incidents to regulators. The new law takes effect 10 days after its official publication in the register.
