Kaiser $3 Million Class Settlement Approved Over Hearing Aids

Kaiser Foundation Health Plan of Washington and associated entities reached a finalized settlement with a class of hearing-disabled people over Kaiser’s prior refusal to cover most hearing loss treatments.

The settlement, which was deemed “fair, reasonable, and in the best interests of the class,” will provide relief to plaintiffs, who were enrolled in “non-grandfathered” Kaiser plans that only covered cochlear implants, at the exclusion of other treatments like hearing aids and associated services, from Oct. 30, 2014, through Dec. 31, 2023, Judge Robert S.
