Japan will require companies in 14 key infrastructure sectors, including finance, telecom and transport, to prepare for possible cyberattacks, Nikkei reports, without attribution.
- Companies will be asked to clarify accountability for their cybersecurity plans, have the capability to deal with threats and create an organizational structure for handling emergencies
- The plan will be specified in key infrastructure action plan, which will be revised by April and take effect in fiscal 2022
- The government will also urge companies to deal with supply chain risks, including information leakage
- Also considering conducting screenings before companies introduce new equipment
