Jackson Hewitt Franchise Escapes Liability for Data Breach

An Oklahoma financial and tax preparation service is entitled to summary judgment in consolidated suits filed against it by customers after a 2022 data breach, a federal court said.

The plaintiffs didn’t establish standing to sue Wing Financial Services LLC, an independently owned Jackson Hewitt franchise, for negligence, breach of fiduciary duty, unjust enrichment, breach of implied contract, and violating state law, the opinion by Judge Claire V. Eagan said Tuesday for the US District Court for the Northern District of Oklahoma.
