J. Crew Accused of Harvesting Data From Electronic Receipts (1)

J. Crew Group LLC customers are accusing the fashion brand of coercing them to turn over contact information during in-store checkout and using it for marketing purposes.

Courtney Champagne, Polina Ioffe, and Stassa Mark filed a consumer privacy class action complaint against the clothing company in the US District Court for the Southern District of New York. They allege receiving an influx of promotional emails with “alarming frequency” after the retailer’s employees collected their contact information for electronic receipts, instead of paper versions.
