Informa Media Sued Over Disclosing Customer Subscription Data

Marketing and information company Informa Media Inc. violated Michigan’s Preservation of Personal Privacy Act by intentionally disclosing magazine subscription information to third-party vendors, a proposed class action filed in Michigan federal court alleged.

Mark Gottsleben, who subscribed to the Informa-published Michigan Farmer magazine, suffered “a barrage of unwanted junk mail” after the company “rented, exchanged, and/or otherwise disclosed” customers’ subscription information to increase its revenue, according to the complaint filed Monday in US District Court for the Western District of Michigan.
